C-ZAC QUARTET

This quartet was written for Cyan, Zack, Anthony and Charles at the Carrollton Michigan High School. The work does not have a great deal of technical difficulty but requires attention to dynamics and style.  Each instrument is featured in a solo section as well as in the full ensemble.  The music structure is in Rondo form with a repeating main theme.  The group had fine success with the music in 2012 and recieived a Division I rating at State Finals in the Michigan MSBOA Festival.  It is scored for snare, tri drums,, cymbals and  bass drum

The Four Seasons Suite for Chamber Percussion

This suite features four short movements--Part I--Fall "March through the Bare Forest" with all wooden instruments from xylo, to claves, wooden bowls, cutting boards, sticks etc. Part II- Winter--"Snow sparkling in the Moonlight" featuring all metal including: bells, agogo,vibes, chiimes, cymbals, wind chimes, triangles etc. Part III-Spring--"A Time of New Growth" in bolero form and featuring all membrane instruments including Tiimpani, snare, 2 bass drums, field drum, bongos, congas, trio tom, roto tom etc. Part IV Summer--"A picnic with a Thunder Storm" All instruments plus rain tube, thunder sheet Bike horn, slide whistle etc. This work is scored for 9 players doubling on all instruments. The level of difficulty is only at a medium level except the snare is a bit more advanced. Mallet parts are very reasonable. This work has been very successful in concert and festival and received a Division I rating in the Michigan State Finals in 2008. Has been lots of fun for the group. RJ
